I am a West Berkshire based artist, painting with an impressionistic style. I originally developed a passion for painting whilst spending two years living in the south of France with my family.
I am particularly influenced by the play of light and movement in a scene. I enjoy capturing special or memorable moments in life and have been particularly inspired by my children, living in the south of France and travelling to interesting places. Capturing the energy and spirit of people is key to my drawing and painting.
My solo exhibition “French Life” was inspired by two years whilst I was living in the south of France with my family. The paintings capture the essence of everyday life; narrow streets, bustling markets, vibrant pavement cafés and petanque players gathered under the trees, all bathed in warm dappled sunlight and long casting shadows. With a little imagination you might be left wondering what the people are saying or what you might see around the corner. Two of my large French cafe paintings can be seen in the West Berkshire Hospital, Newbury and on the Art UK Paintings website.
I am a member of the Oxford Art Society and regularly exhibit work in collective exhibitions and galleries across the South of England. I regularly take part in the West Berkshire & North Hampshire Open Studios scheme.
